LIFE TRANSITIONS "All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy, for what we leave behind us is part of ourselves, we must die to one life before we can enter another." Anatole France |

Transitions in the Work Life It is a common occurance when our job, which once seamed a perfect fit for our talents and interests, becomes boring or loses its power to take us where we want to go. Even in a seemingly stable and successful career we can find ourselves in a self initiated transition. Other times the transition is precipitated by external changes, either in their personal lives or in their work organizations. Either way, people usually try to put things back to the way they used to be. However, that isn't likely to work, if the transition is significant. Feeling that we can't trust our own changing ideas and dreams when planning our work life, leads many of us to seek career assistance.

Relationships and Transition To become a couple is to agree implicitly to play a prearranged part in another person's story; and it can take a lifetime to get the part down really well. Relationships are always structured by unspoken agreements, although people are seldom conscious of it. When these patterns change (due to one party or both) the parties to the relationship will report that they are in transition. Discovering new inner resources, each one of them has the opportunity to come out of the transition as a more whole, more complete person. The process of negotiation is vital and provides both partners with the setting for their continued development, as each person deals with the other's transition.
